You don't need to get your hair cut in an art gallery. You couldn't care less about complimentary herbal tea and an essential oil scalp massage. You just want a damn haircut. But you won't settle for just any damn haircut — you still want a damn good haircut. If this sounds familiar, look no further than Salon Stella. Now located in a quiet pocket of northeast Minneapolis, the salon feels comfortable and welcoming, with shabby-chic decor and stylists who are unpretentious and down-to-earth. That's not to say Salon Stella doesn't appreciate good art. The salon's original location featured an impressive lamb mural painted by local collaborators Broken Crow, funded by a Minnesota State Arts Board grant. When the salon moved to its new location on 19th Avenue, its stylists and clients raised the dough to fund another impressive mural — this one featuring a bright pair of owls — again designed by Broken Crow.
