If fashion design is one part perspective and one part execution, then Minneapolis designer Emma Berg is naturally at the forefront. Her vision and construction are consistently aligned, and her looks prove more daring and entertaining with each season. Berg has shown nine collections since 2009 and had 17 shows in the past year alone, and while so many local designers tend to strive for down-to-earth commercial viability, Emma's looks, especially her minimalist designs in silk and one-color sculptural dresses, are thought-provoking, different, and well-sewn. "As a designer I want to inspire," Berg says. "I strive to create an emotional response for someone when they experience my garments, whether it be during a runway show or seeing it hung in their own closet."
