Best Local Musician Made Good
One of the quirkiest and most clever songwriters to reside in the Twin Cities is Jeremy Messersmith. Renowned for his unorthodox touring methods — supper-club-style house shows have become his trademark for spreading his jaunty melodies across the land — Messersmith is getting a major boost for his follow-up to 2010's The Reluctant Graveyard via his recent signing to Glassnote Records. Mumford & Sons and Phoenix are two acts who have released material via the New York-based label in recent years, and this new partnership sounds like a healthy one for the uncompromising Messersmith. The resulting album is expected to arrive later this year.
